SCIO Announces Summer 2022 Prize Winners

SCIO is delighted to announce the Summer Programme 2022’s Prize winners. The prizes are awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence in their British Culture seminars, or overall academic performance throughout the programme (the Alumni prize).

The summer’s awardees include:

Alumni Prize

  • Travis Kyker, Milligan College

 British Culture

  • Cate Price, Union University
  • Zachary Ceselli, Hope International University

Zachary Ceselli (Hope International University), took the C.S. Lewis and the Classics, and J.R.R Tolkien: Oxford’s Creator of other Worlds classes during the programme. He describes one of his essays, and his experience of his time in Oxford as follows:

I wrote one of my papers on the impact of Gilbert Murray’s theory of Greek religion on C. S. Lewis’s Till We Have Faces. Lewis uses Murray’s framework of religious progress for apologetic purposes, demonstrating the various religious manifestations of Murray’s theory in relation to the pursuit of love. My research helped me to understand Lewis’s devotion not just to Christianity, but also to a way of life that Christianity claims to be the ultimate fulfilment of. I was a stranger in a strange land writing this paper, and I am forever grateful to SCIO and Dr. Kirkpatrick for the opportunity to have been one. My world is a lot larger for the experience.

Zac Ceselli

SCIO wishes the prize winners a very happy and successful future.
