SCIO is pleased to offer Alumni Scholarships funded by a generous gift from Geoffrey and Caroline de Jager.  Applicants must be alumni of its student programmes (SSO and OSP).  The three scholarships of £2,500 each will be awarded to alumni registered for a graduate degree at the University of Oxford. One scholarship is offered in each of the following areas:

  • Texts and manuscripts with a focus on New Testament studies
  • Religion and science
  • Subjects in, or broadly related to, SCIO’s teaching fields (see SCIO’s list of subjects here)


  • The scholarships are available for students who are alumni of SSO or OSP and who will be registered for a graduate degree programme at the University of Oxford
  • The scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit, academic potential, and vision for a scholarly vocation
  • The scholarships may be renewable for a second and final year
  • The fields of the scholarships will be one in each of texts and manuscripts with a focus on New Testament studies, science and religion, and in any subject for which SCIO provides tutoring


    • Applicants should submit a CV, letters of support from two academic referees, one of whom must be the applicant’s Oxford supervisor, proof of admission to the University of Oxford, and a covering letter outlining research plans and intended careers.
